Population Health Dashboard | Interface Design

Population Health Management is a program utilized by physicians and researchers to compare the conditions and behaviors of the Marshfield Clinic patient base to the overall health of the larger population.  The proposed user interface is intended to adapt well to mobile and table scenarios as well as desktop. The re-design is a customized dashboard that can be modified to each individual user needs and can see specific details of a chart at a glance.

The project was largely conceptual and served as a idea springboard and the basis for future marketing materials. Later considerations of the project's use have been altered based on the needs of the organization.

I was pitched the project as part of my first big assignment at Marshfield Clinic.  I researched their current product and pitched a direction for the updated interface to the client. With feedback and direction from my team,  I lead the UX work, producing all major deliverables and presenting them to the client.  Final deliverables included design proposal and 3 three alternate options.  Click-through screens for the functions of the main dashboard, and in-process documentation. Design consultations were requested at a later date as well as icons.

Project Owner: Marshfield Clinic Information Systems (MCIS)
Project Duration: March 2013 - June 2013 with new icons and design consultations in the fall of 2013.
The many layers of detail within the data called for clear navigational structure and easy understanding at a glance.
Tabs can be opened/closed and toggled to view data in a specified manner.  New charts can be easily added to the overview page.  Visual design considerations focused on accessibility for all colors and and overall tone that was soothing to the eye with muted containers which allow the data to be the focal point.
Each measure can be expanded to a light box view for further detail and focused engagement. Each chart can be viewed in this manner by the buttons on either side of the frame or by gesture swipes.
Note: Due to confidentiality agreements, all data shown is fictional. The designs in this case study are a reinterpretation of the original.
